The North Pole
Dear Alex,
Well, that was Christmas. I have taken my boots off, the reindeer are eating far too much, and the workshop is gloriously, blessedly quiet.
I always write a few letters in this in-between week, because I think it is an odd stretch of days. The excitement has gone and the new year has not started. It can feel a bit empty. It is really just a rest.
Thank you for the year, Alex. Whatever you are planning for the next one, start it gently. Nobody does their best work in the first week of January, not even me.
Until next Christmas,
Santa Claus
