The North Pole
Dear Alex,
It has been a while. You stopped writing to me somewhere around your eleventh year, which is normal, and I have never held it against you.
I still keep the list, though, and you are still on it. This year it says: worked too hard, worried about people, did not ask for much. That last one is not the virtue you think it is, Alex.
So here is your letter. Ask for something this Christmas. Sit down. Let somebody else do the washing up. Consider it a formal instruction from the North Pole.
Still watching out for you,
Santa Claus
